Creative Captures was conceptualized as a visually stunning photography portfolio designed to stand out in the crowded landscape of personal websites. The goal was to create a digital canvas that not only showcases high-quality photographs but also delivers a uniquely immersive experience. Inspired by modern creative studios and high-end designer portfolios, this project focuses on storytelling through scroll. Research included analyzing motion design trends, performance optimization for media-heavy sites, and how to best engage users visually without overwhelming them.
The design of Creative Captures revolves around fluid motion, minimalism, and strong visual hierarchy. It uses a dark, cinematic color palette to let photos shine while employing GSAP animations and Lenis.js to create buttery-smooth scroll interactions. Features include custom cursor effects, horizontal scrolling image strips, parallax reveals, and full-screen clip transitions with image or video overlays. Typography is kept clean and modern, with ample whitespace and bold section intros to maintain focus and rhythm as users explore the portfolio.
Built with HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript, Creative Captures relies heavily on GSAP (with ScrollTrigger) for interactive animations and Lenis.js for smooth scroll performance. The architecture is lightweight and media-optimized to support large image/video files without compromising on speed. Custom scripts power unique scroll behaviors like horizontal-on-vertical transitions and parallax effects. Despite being a static site, it feels dynamic and alive thanks to precise animation timing and viewport-triggered transitions. The project was deployed on GitHub Pages, making it fast and accessible across devices.
